Eat a Full Meal: Before your appointment, make sure you have a proper meal. This helps keep your blood sugar steady, which will prevent you from feeling faint or dizzy during the session. A light snack is also a good idea if your appointment is long.
Stay Hydrated: Drink lots of water the day before and the day of your tattoo. Healthy, hydrated skin is easier to tattoo and will heal faster.
No Alcohol or Caffeine: Avoid drinking alcohol or coffee at least 24 hours before your tattoo. These can thin your blood, making you bleed more during the session, which may make the process harder for your artist.
Shower and Shave the Area (if needed): Arrive with clean, dry skin. Shower before your appointment to ensure the area is clean, and if your artist has requested it, gently shave the area to remove any hair. Use a new razor and avoid causing irritation or cuts. If you’re unsure, your artist can assist with this.
Comfortable Clothes: Wear loose, comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed. If it’s a leg tattoo, wear shorts; for a back tattoo, wear something easy to remove or lift.
Bring Your ID: Make sure you bring a form of ID like a driver’s license or passport to prove your age. Most studios require you to be 18 or older.
Rest Well: Get plenty of rest the night before your appointment. Being well-rested helps you stay relaxed and comfortable throughout the tattoo process, especially if it’s a longer session.
